Check out our online virtual exhibition of
that combines ecological, art, and social action in ways that are subversive and mind-changing.
In the actions of ecofuturists, a predominant concept is the distinction between
ecology and futurism. A number of materialisms concerning futurist dialectics
and deep ecology may exist. Thus our actions are interpolated into a neodeconstructivism
that redefines the artist as revolutionary.
Those who espouse moderation between, say, economy and ecology or the needs
of humans versus nature say "Be fair and look at both sides of the story." But
how can you be fair to both sides of a rape? Of a murder? Of a massacre?
Just as Sontag observes that "Culture is intrinsically responsible for class
divisions," so too is culture responsible for both ecological and artistic divisions.
Through the direct actions of the artist, we aim to radically change culture,
to create a new dialectic and to erase the futility of culture. Just like Foucault,
Picasso,
Russolo,
and Watson,
we promote the use of the posttextual paradigm of consensus to challenge hierarchy.
As Edward Abbey said, "The artist in our time has two chief responsibilities:
(1) Art; and (2) Sedition."
