I've been working on projects the last couple years that combine my interests in nature, place, and environmental issues

Here are a few pics from an ongoing series, J.W. Fike's Photographic Survey of the Wild Edible Botanicals of the North American Continent

I hope that my work helps people easily identify edible plants that grow all around them, fostering a sense of connection to the natural world and offering a supply of free, fresh food for anyone in need.

My system has two parts:
1. a photograph of the plant in its natural environment
2. a graphic illustration that identifies the edible part of the plant
